CSTD
Committee Overview
DPSIMUN 2026 presents the Commission on Science and Technology for Development, where innovation meets responsibility! With progress and access on the line, delegates will decide how technology can lift nations without leaving anyone behind.
Established in 1992 under ECOSOC, CSTD acts as the primary UN focal point for science, technology, and innovation. It provides guidance on how innovation can drive the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, focusing on SDG 9 and SDG 17.
Under the theme "Radical Resilience: Engineering Stability in an Age of Volatility," CSTD serves as an indispensable forum for foresight, helping nations build technical policies capable of handling global disruptions.
Topics:
- Governance of Frontier Technologies for Crisis Response
- Protection Against the Use of Dual-Use Tech
- Establishing a Global Rapid Response Governance Council
- Mitigating Dual-Use Dilemmas & The Global Tech-Divide
- Decentralised Power for a Volatile Future
- The Geopolitics of Energy Decentralisation
- Bridging the Energy Digital Divide
- Managing the Vulnerable Edge in Security of Things
MEET THE CHAIRS
Arnav Pratap Maan
I'm Arnav Pratap Maan and I'm going to br chairing the CSTD. Drawing from my previous experience, I totally get the vibe of frantically searching the background guide while the Dais is already talking. Just remember to be calm, ready to engineer some real stability and being a bridge builder.
Hamida Abdul Hamid
"Hello delegates, It is an honour and privilege to be one of your chairs for the CSTD committee at this year’s DPSIMUN . As your chair i bring experience as a four time delegate, and a one time chair.Having this experience i think its safe to say that i know the in and outs of MUN. As your chair i encourage you all to be outspoken, do adequate research and feel free to reach out whenever you have an issue.I know that at first the committee might seem intimidating and not a lot of people would want to speak up but i encourage each and everyone of you to shake off that fear, try your absolute best and don’t let anyone attack you and go scott free.I also need everyone to gather enough ammunition and “dirt” in each country so we can have a fruitful debate session as well as a fun and interesting one. I once again invite you all to the CSTD committee and i hope we have fun together at the conference ,I can’t wait to see you all!! Sincerely, Hamida Chair."
