Preprimary at DPSI
Welcome to Preprimary at DPS International Ghana
Nurturing Curious Minds, Building Strong Foundations
At DPS International Ghana, we believe that the early years are the most critical window for a child’s development. Our Preprimary – hybrid and bilingual programme (designed for children aged 1 year to 5 years) offers a warm, vibrant, and secure environment where early learning is an exciting adventure.
By blending Montessori with world-class international curriculum, our holistic approach to education, helps our youngest learners take their first confident step toward lifetime academic success and personal growth.
Our Educational Philosophy
Our preprimary curriculum is built on the understanding that children learn best through active exploration, play, and guided discovery. We focus on developing the whole child—ensuring they grow socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
We follow a hybrid pathway, which seamlessly prepares children for a smooth transition into the Cambridge Primary curriculum and beyond.
Core Learning Areas
Our holistic curriculum is divided into key areas of development that spark curiosity and build fundamental skills:
- Communication, Language & Literacy: Building early reading, listening, and speaking skills through storytelling, phonics, and expressive language activities.
- Mathematical Understanding: Introducing early math concepts—such as shapes, patterns, counting, and sorting—through fun, hands-on games.
- Understanding the World: Encouraging children to explore their physical environment through role playing asking questions, and learning about different cultures, nature, and technology.
- Creative Expression: Unleashing imagination through music, movement, arts and crafts, and dramatic play.
- Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED): Teaching independence, confidence, empathy, and cooperation. Children learn to manage feelings and build positive relationships with peers and teachers.
- Physical Development: Developing fine motor skills (writing grip, cutting) and gross motor skills (running, balancing) through active indoor and outdoor play.
- Parent involvement: At DPSI parents are encouraged to be a part of their child’s school life. Parents are invited to share their knowledge be it art/craft, culinary, dance, song or any other skill they would want the children to learn.
- Parent orientation sessions: These yearly sessions that are presented to the parents in order for them to understand how the children learn at school and share their experiences. It also gives them a chance to present their suggestions and ask questions they may have.
